PLANNING A SURPRISE
Keeping it a secret?
Find one worn on the correct finger — ideally the ring finger — and use our printed chart to match the size.
A parent, sibling, or best friend may already know their size — or can help you make an educated guess.
Ask a friend or relative with a similarly sized hand to get measured, and use that as a reference point.
Have a friend take them ring-shopping and note which sizes fit — then report back to you.
A few things to keep in mind
women's sizes run 3–9 (6 to 6.5 is most common) and men's run 6–13 (9 to 9.5 is most common). If you're truly unsure, the average size is your safest guess.
on our rings for a closer fit. Tungsten carbide bands are the exception — those come in full and half sizes only.
It's easier to size a ring down than up, and an engagement ring needs to slide over the knuckle when you propose.
Take the measurement at night in a warm room, when fingers are at their fullest — that's the truest reading.

RING SIZE FAQ
Sizing can be confusing — here are quick answers to the questions we hear most, so you can shop with confidence.
What if i order the wrong size?
If your ring was purchased from Icing On The Ring, resizing is complimentary within your first year, for adjustments up to one full size up or down. Eternity, tungsten, and carbide bands are excluded — those can't be resized under this policy.
How long does it take to resize a ring?
Resizing typically takes up to two weeks. Need it sooner? Let us know and we'll do our best to accommodate.
Can I resize my eternity band?
Eternity bands are more involved — because the diamonds run the full way around, resizing depends on the specific style and setting. Our jewelers will look at your piece and walk you through what's possible before any work begins.
will resizing damage the ring?
Not when it's done properly. Our in-house jewelers resize so the ring keeps its shape, the stones stay secure, and the finish stays clean.
How much does resizing a ring cost?
Cost depends on the metal, the size adjustment, and the complexity of the piece. If you bought your ring from us, your first resize is complimentary within the first year, up to one full size up or down. After the first year, or for larger adjustments, we'll quote the job before starting.
